for today... the fourth of July.
(the only day of the year I wish to be American as they've got a public holiday whilst we slug it out at work)
Paris Haute Couture
Karl Lagerfeld's New Vintage theme brought to life a shimmering winter wonderland of sorts.
Perched upon delicate, white wicker settings, the audience were immersed in pale pinks and soft greys as models floated down the runway.
The utter star of the show had to be Lindsey Wixson wearing the pièce de résistance of the collection, a stunning, Ice Queen-esque, snowy white gown.
Unfortunately, for me, Dior was a disappointment. The best thing about this show was the gorgeous rose walls (here), featuring over a million flowers in all, this was the kind of opulence we have become accustomed to with Christian Dior shows.
However I feel that with all the hype surrounding Raf Simons and his debut collection with the house, the show fell short of the mark.
But that's just me.
A fanciful floral affair, I found the butterfly adorned mouths of the models, beautiful but also slightly unnerving.
IRIS VAN HERPEN
Lady Gaga eat your heart out!
Dubbed a cast of graceful aliens, sci-fi silhouettes and shiny things a-plenty in this Dutch designers show.
I'm sure this won't be the only time we see the otherworldly creations.
